Nic Harcourt stepping down

The L.A. radio and music scene is about to experience a radical change.

Nic Harcourt, KCRW music director and host of "Mornings Become Eclectic" for the last 10 years, announced today that he will step down at the end of November.

Harcourt will continue to deejay a Sunday music show at the station as he pursues independent projects: “As a parent of two young children, I believe it’s time for me to explore new career opportunities and expand upon my other activities in movie, television, voice over work, advertising and the Internet.”

Gary! This is huge for me. I listen every a.m. Any buzz about who might take over?

The KCRW music director lineage is truly impressive. Isabelle Holt, Tom Schnabel, followed by Chris Douridas, followed by Nic, have all been excellent and unique and inspiring -- and the last 3 are all are still involved with the station and are still opening our ears to great music. They sure know how to pick them at KCRW. I am sure the next choice will be great, too.
