Upward bound

Frank Girardot is slated to become metro editor of the three SGVN papers - the Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune and Whittier Daily News. Girardot replaces Edward Barrera, who is leaving for points south and then points east. The company is going to be recruiting for a deputy metro editor to take Girardot's slot.

Frank deserves it. He's old school, but the he's working with a lot of kids who know nothing about reporting.

Sure they can write an inverted pyramid lead and get the facts. but they have no idea how to report those facts in a way that makes me want to read the SN or the Trib.

Maybe Frank can get some good hires.

Gosh, I hope he still has time to keep writing his cut-and-paste blog.
