LA Weekly editor stepping down

Drex Heikes told his staff today that he will step down as editor-in-chief of the LA Weekly. LA Observed published his memo to employees in which he says he take time to consider next steps - and let's his stable of writers know they'll now be working with Jill Stewart.

Heikes came to the Weekly two years ago from the Las Vegas Sun, where he helped craft a series that won the Sun a Pulitzer Prize.

Sad to say, but I haven't been reading this rag the past six to nine months. Boring. Way overdue for a change.
