Jury duty

If you come here regularly, you'll notice that the same post has been up since Sept. 16. I've been on jury duty all month and haven't been able to keep up with the blog while also trying to keep up with work. I expect I'll be out at least another week. I'll try to post a few updates if I can.

Are you serving on the Dr. Conrad Murray trial? :)

No, 5:23, I think they're still trying to decide one of Michael Jackson's earlier trials.

I was in the jury pool for the Murray trial. I made the first cut and went back for the finals last week, but they picked the jury before they questioned me. They ranked and questioned the finalists based on our answers to the lengthy questionnaire we filled out on the first day, so maybe my former newspaper career hurt my chances and moved me to the back of the line.

Guess they thought it would be bad and dangerous to have an ex journo on jury, but it would have been a thriller, really off the wall if you had time.

I wonder whatever happened to Bubbles, the chimp. Think he'll testify? Oh, now I remember. After he left LANG he went down to San Diego to join the U-T.

I like it 7:13, very funny and exactly correct.

No way they would want a journo on the jury. They only want objective, reasonable people.

@12:19 AM, as much as I do my best to be dismissed from jury duty, I think it would have been interesting (if not fun) to have been on the jury for the Murray trial. I may have even written a book afterward. :)

A book was my long-range plan. (Those wacky MJ fans will buy anything with his name on it.) And I also thought it would be interesting and fun to serve.

One of the questions the lawyers asked the potential jurors was whether they *wanted* to serve on this jury. One said yes, because he thought it would be fun and more interesting than any other case he could have been called for. He was quickly dismissed by the lawyers.

Imagine being on both the Conrad Murray jury AND the Casey Anthony one. Talk about some major paydays coming your way.

But I'd be hiding out if I were a Casey Anthony juror. Along with the payday would come some serious scorn from the public.

We'll see if the Murray jury pulls a "Casey Anthony" and acquits him...

Signed,

And, furthermore, why would someone who wants to be ON the Conrad Murray jury reveal anything?

Keep your cards close to your chest. Not that it's a guarantee they'd be chosen, but the more objective and fair they seem, the more the likelihood of their being selected.

If either the judge or an attorney asked me if I wanted to serve on the jury, I would perhaps say, "Only to make sure that Murray got a fair trial."
