why so much ragging on LANG? the daily news is finally doing good and making money as are the other smaller papers in lang.
all lang has is small papers. the daily news should have been making money all along, and, frankly, there was a bit of concern of other lang papers eating dn costs. don't know if that was true or still the case. but, the bottom line on ragging on lang is that they deserve it.
The papers are making money? So that means no more layoffs? Any day now we'll be hearing about pay raises for the staff? Return of 401k benefits? Creation of new positions? Investment in new technology?Thicker newspapers? More robust content in print and online?I'll be here holding my breath.

Let's not forget the real point of the original post here. Lang is building a powerhouse of an online operation that should spawn a succuessful IPO spinoff and have all other online competition quacking in their boots. And let us not banter the merits of truth here...the management team told us so.

Denver is laughing all the way to the bank and YOU all are subsidizing the big wigs by working overtime without being compensated, by working with substandard gear, by not billing for your mileage or for under-reporting it and for all the other things YOU do without compensation just because you are afraid to loose your jobs. Where is your self respect in all of this?

How come there's nothing on the site about the 42 layoffs LANGwide? A very dry, cold memo was distributed around the DN. It's no rumor folks. The finance department is moving to San Ramon. Seems like everyone is so battle weary that we've all decided to hang our heads and tales between our legs and trudge on, and not even take a second to acknowledge that some of our co-workers are losing their jobs.
Why do they need a finance Dept?But, let me understand this. They make move after move to get people to drive hours a day to be relocated at the flagship of lang. San Berdoo goes west, DN and others east in crappy traffic. They build out space, mind you, this is over a three year span. Then they decide to move all north, those that they don't eliminate...how do you spell logistics?
They operate on a system of wearing you out. When they want to get rid of people but find that everyone has been working overtime for free and not making the slightest of waves, then they decide to move operations as far as possible so that those who just can't be away from home for 12 hours a day or more (with traffic and the free overtime you all put in) just give up and quit. That way, they don't pay any severance or even unemployment cause when you quit, you don't get any. These people are well versed on how to cheat hard working employees out of every single cent they can to give it to their higher-ups as bonuses. They live and spend like kings when all of you are living worse than paupers. lol.
7:48, I hear you loud and clear and don't disagree except with one large issue...these clowns are not that smart. That would show a clear plan to eliminate workers, even though not legal, it would show plannining ability. They have none. Take a look at press shutdowns, moving pressman, outsourcing printing, moving graphics, accounting, etc., they haven't a clue. Never have, never will. They are doomed to smaller revenues and readership losses. They are capable of doing nothing about it.
