Comings and goings (catchup)
A departure I missed a couple weeks back: James Wagner, who covered Diamond Bar and the City of Industry (including the city's NFL bid) for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, has moved on to cover high school sports for the Washington Post. Wagner came to the Tribune in June, 2009. Before that he was in metrpo at the Los Angeles Times and interned at the Wall Street Journal.

James is a genuinely good guy. All the best to him.
it's hard to keep up with all the people jumping ship from the SGV Trib and Pas Star-News. it's at least seven reporters in the last four months. considering how hard it is to find a job right now, that's pretty much equivalent to the entire staff turning over twice.
when it comes to lang a number of people always opt for greener pasteurs. control your own destiny is a good motto when you work for this group.
There are plenty of opportunities to rip LANG. This isn't one of them. An obviously talented reporter going from a midsized paper to a nationally prominent major metro daily hardly qualifies as jumping ship.
I agree with 8:04. You should always look to better your opportunities. Isn't Lang/Medianews big enough to keep some talent? Look, even the big boys and girls lose good reporters to other outlets. Good for him and more bad news for Lang readers.
Dopey carping. Congratulations to James, acknowledge his hard work and earned big step up in hard times, and leave it at that.
