More moves in LANGland

Frank Pine has been named the new general manager of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. Pine already served as executive editor of the Bulletin, a role he'll continue, and is executive editor of the Bulletin's sister paper, the San Bernardino Sun.

Pine replaces Peggy Del Torro, who took over as general manager of the Redlands Daily Facts.

Back to back posts on LANG and the comment sections are empty; I guess everyone found jobs.

Or maybe everyone was just glad to see the "managing editor" go!

No jobs. We just gave up.

I interviewed with this guy once and let me just say I thank God I didn't get the job. He came across as a complete jerk.

Christina Brock isn't exactly "incredibly talented" either, unless they consider nosediving every section/publication she managed a talent.

She can't be as bad as the managing editor they had. Dobbs turned the newspaper into a high school rag where she just wrote about herself and her family. Last time I checked nobody in Redlands cared about what those hillbillies from the mountains do.

Hey, I think I was around the day you were interviewed and didn't get hired. Lesson: no shirt, no shoes, no offer. How's food service worked out for you?

no one cares. mostly untalented left and moving adequate at best from one spot to another is all they have left.

I noticed the Circulation
Director was not listed in my newspaper this morning. Did they finally get rid of her?

Isn't a general manager the head of the business side? Is Pine going to wear both hats here? Maybe my understanding of the ad/editorial wall is naive, but there IS a reason for it.

Hey 3:57, there are a lot of reasons for seperation. This group in the last several years has paid no mind to it or other logical sequences. Pine must have had massive sales and motivational experience to be in charge of the business side. Oh, wait a moment, what business? Nest you will be telling me that Lambert is in charge.

All Pine has done since he began as a reporter at the Ontario paper is say "yes" to the corporate types. That's all it takes at LANG to float to the top, a complete lack of backbone and no sense of self-integrity.

sounds like solid management skills to me.

I've never understood the complaints about Pine. Is he a yes man? Well, yes. But he's also a good news man, and the papers are better for having him.

Would I like to see him stand up to more of the idiocy? Of course.

But if he did, he would be hastily dispatched by the real ass clowns. And he'd be replaced by someone far more gutless and far less competent.

don't know pine well enough to agree or disagree. however, i hate to paint all at lang with the same brush, but, those who are still there and bow and scrape are showing zero skills as leaders. yes, i know they need to protect their jobs, but, others who have taken the high road and left or stood up to the lunacy to me are the people who they should keep.
