What else is the Dallas editor going to say. I disagree, see you later. As mentioned by prior posters, this experiment ended badly for others and I see know reason why this won't too.
Dallas is a different enviorment than most areas of the country. George is a better editor than most! The real test is the P-E....are they going to follow or just continue to let the publisher flounder. I don't see anyone left that can raise the bar.
The P-E is hopeless. Maybe Dallas, but Riverside has no chance.
Sorry, this won't work in the newspaper business. They had pretty good editors in Los Angeles when this failed badly. Dallas will fail too. A bad idea then and still bad today.
I have yet to hear a rational explanation of why this will work.
George was a good editor when he spent a few years at the P-E after Belo bought the paper. He really cared about journalistic quality and I doubt that he is thrilled with this development. But I am sure he will make the best of it in Dallas. As for the P-E, many reporters there are expecting another round of layoffs in the first quarter of 2010, which will only worsen the already-bad problem in terms of a lack of decent content. This is known as digging your own grave.
geesh put the PE to pasture already!
I don't read the PE...tell me it can't be worse than the LANG products.
