It takes a team

In an effort to strangulate the shrinking San Francisco Chronicle, Dean Singleton's MediaNews Group has joined with Philip Anschutz's San Francisco Examiner to sell ads. The resulting "San Francisco Bay Area Buy" will offer ad space in 14 newspapers with a combined circulation of 808,000.

Wow and double wow! Two inept sales organizations teaming together to build a better sales organization...they better hire a banker to be available to count the money.

If Singleton's group is involved, it the so called bay area buy was competing with a corpse, I would bet heavily on the corpse.

Singleton has been trying to position community bloggers to replace paid reporters for years. Hooking up with his Colorado ranch buddy Phil A. gives Dean a chance to do that. Examiner bloggers coming to a Dean paper near you. Wouldn't put it past him.

it could only enhance their coverage, such as it is.

The fact is that this is a really good idea and should have been done a long time ago.

no doubt a good idea but as this organization has proven time and time again, the execution of good ideas suck...not to mention the follow through.
