It doesn't pay to be popular
Washington Post reporter Ian Shapira liked the attention his story got after it was sampled on Gawker, and then he considered the amount of time he spent on the story, and his own precarious place in a shrinking industry, and the diversion of ad dollars to the website that had sampled him.
