More MediaNews departures

Sacramento lawmakers will soon have one fewer pair of eyes watching their shenanigans. San Jose Mercury News reporter Edwin Garcia is leaving May 1 to take a PR job at Kaiser Permanente. "It's going to be a wild ride for those who remain in the industry," Garcia told Shane Goldmacher at Capitol Alert.

I'm told Michael Moreno, the cool ad guy with the candy jar, has been laid off as part of the continuing cutbacks in LANG.

Michael was on of the great managers and I know that he will be missed by many.

"cool ad guy"--three words I thought I'd never see in this blog.

What paper was Moreno based at?

I believe it was Pasadena. Another example of a void in the management of the LANG organization. They were touting feet on the street two years ago, now it is get rid of anyone you can. They continue to remove talent and leave crap and all the walls are tumbling down. Too bad for those who need a job.

He was based out of the Tribune after being moved from Pasadena a while back. One has to think the Inland portion of the group had a lot to do with his departure. Sad times in the industry.

LANG 3.0 will be a copy desk in Covina and an Inland operating committee in San Bernardino. The copy desk will be laid off long before before the operating committee gets a taste its own medicine - but it will.

There are only two overpaid survivors in the Inland division.

Steve? Frank?
