Here come the scaremongers

It was probably inevitable that some anti-immigrant voices would recast the swine flu as a Mexican disease. Tea party booster Randy Thomasson of SaveCalifornia/SaveAmerica goes so far as to rename the virus the "killer Mexican flu," urging President Barack Obama to close the border and quarantine anyone arriving here from there, whether by sea, land or air.
"For the love of people created in the image of God, President Obama must close the border now and take tough steps to curtail this virus."
He's not anti-Mexican, he's just anti-flu.

Let's add Israel's Deputy Prime Minister (Yes, a Jew, of all people) to the list.

The man claims "Swine" Flu is offensive to Jews and Muslims.

You would think a Jew would be more sensitive about laying blame on a specific ethnicity.

Go figure!

I wish you would use the term anti-ILLEGAL immigration groups instead of anti-immigration; these groups have no problem with Mexicans or any other nationality who go through all the proper channels to come to the USA legally. I personally helped someone get their citizenship, and seeing what he went through for almost a decade ... I honor and respect him. Why SHOULDN'T these groups be upset about the millions of people who ignore our laws and enter our country and use the services WE pay for as citizens?

The audacity of those who ignore our laws and enter our country and use the services we pay for as citizens. Why don't they have the common courtesy to just stay home and slowly starve to death...

Spoken like a true, everything is black-and-white Liberal. Congratulations. Why don't you enlighten us on how to solve the problem of how we're going to keep paying for the health care of illegal aliens while OUR health insurance rates keep climbing and our beneits keep dropping?
And while you are at it, please provide a reference to the "starving" illegal immigrants you mention.

Oh no, sorry. I forgot. You hate the United States so much you want to see it become another Third World country. My bad.

Talk about black and white...One must be liberal and hate the U. S. to make such a comment. And of course these folks coming across the border will turn us into a third world country as opposed to assimilating. Spoken like a true xenophobe and one who needs not be confused by facts before pontificating.

Xenophobe? Sounds more like a racist.

Can't we get along and just rag on Dean Singleton and his crumbling empire?

Why do you ppl always pull the "racist" line?
WTF. You don't even know me, asshole.
How many rough neighborhoods have YOU lived in? I can count two that I have CHOSEN to live in and was by far the minority; I ate birria and napolitos almost every weekend -- do you even know what that is?
I was raised by my Mexican aunt and celebrated all my birthdays with a pinata until I was 10, but I'm a racist.
I have a handful of Mexican-American friends who took advantage of the amnesty in 1986. I know dozens of other people from all parts of the world -- India, Peru, Argentina, Ireland -- who all came here LEGALLY.
If you ask ANY of them about illegal immigration, be prepared for a long tirade about how PISSED OFF they are that so many people come here without going through what they went through.
But you probably only have white, elitist friends and you think Starbucks is a food group.

That's one of the dirty little secrets of the immigration debate. Many legal immigrants have zero sympathy for those that decided to disrespect the law of the land and take shortcuts, then have the audacity to complain if someone calls them on it later.

For the record, I'm a 1st generation American, dirty commie leftist, and I don't have any problem with demanding everyone follows the law equally.

If the system is broken, you fix it. You don't decide to just ignore any law that's inconvenient. Otherwise, you lose any right to complain when someone does something you think is criminal, since they're just following your example.
