OC Register to print San Gabriel Valley newspapers

The San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group - San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star-News and Whittier Daily News - today announced plans to outsource the printing of its papers to the Orange County Register.

Rod Leveque reports at the group's Economic Alert blog:
The papers had been published at a facility in Valencia owned by the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which includes the Tribune, Star-News and Whittier Daily News. The move is part of a larger effort by the group to restructure its printing and production operations.

According to CEO of LANG, Ed Moss, "Outsourcing our printing will enable us to reallocate vital resources to our editorial and advertising sales efforts and refocus on our core mission of being the premium local content provider in the communities we serve."
I'm told LANG plans to sell the Valencia plant, which also prints the Daily News, within the next few months. The announcement here would seem to add credence to this.

LANG exceeded its credit limit today according to LAobserved. This company is in so much trouble.

It was announced Friday the L.A. Daily News will be printing at SOP in Gardena where the Daily Breeze prints.

Did your girlfriend feed you another company memo Gary? We all know that you are incapable of enterprise reporting...

Gary must be hitting some nerves, because the LANG apologists have been out in full force today.

Lambert must have cracked the whip.

Yeah they are so upset because no one liked their pancake story. Then again, not much to do on those furloughs.

Ed Moss is full of crap. How much money would you like to wager that not one additional resource will be hired in editorial or advertising. Hey Ed, how is your feet on the street initiative going? The premium local content provider? Unreal!

Guess most of the pressroom will be let go, of course, only to provide additional resources.

Yeah, don't all those LANG Apologists know this blog is only for complaining and hurling insults? Damn apologists. Always with their apologizing. They'll be sorry.

Hummm...So the LANG puppets have also started posting here? They must be getting desperate. Sweet!

And by "enterprise reporting" you mean taking complaints from gadflies about pancakes and then calling Moe's owner for comment.

The San Gabriel Valley newspapers are all going to get this sad distinction as the first L.A. County Newspapers not to be printed in L.A. County. This is just not fair.

Yeah, anyone who posts comments on this blog must be desperate.

Wait, wat?

Give the Apologists a break. At least they're embracing the "new media".

Finally.

embracing the new media? It is the other way around. The new media has embraced LANG in a bear hug and is squeezing the life out of them.

hehehe:

Dear guy with questions:

Lets take it apart in sections.

1 - The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star-News and Whittier Daily News will now be printed at the Register in Orange County.

Okay, 3 newspapers will be printed at the Orange County Register.

2 - LANG CEO Ed Moss

Biggest douch* b*g in the world.

3 - "Outsourcing our printing

Sending papers to be printed somewhere else, see #1.

4 - will enable us to reallocate vital resources to our editorial and advertising sales efforts

F**k, you got me here. Are they going to put money saved into the editorial and ad sales efforts? i.e. hire people? Or just give themselves a bonus?

5 - and refocus on our core mission of being the premium local content provider in the communities we serve."

F**k, you got me here too. Refocus our core mission IMPLIES that there was a mission to begin with, but that it needs tweeking because it was lost in the shuffle of mass layoffs

(i.e. firings - layoff implies there is no work at the moment but some will be available at a later date, not the case here)

Refocus or mission, what was that mission? hmmm. Got me, f**k.

6 - Premium local content provider

I think this means that there is great stuff given to the readers, but with the smaller and smaller paper and stories about some f**k-off crying about not getting free pancakes at 10 pm, well, I think this is all one big great sentence full of bullsh**.

Satisfied?
