A long, rolling temblor felt here in Los Angeles but centered in Baja, Mexico, south of Mexicali. Hit about 3:40 p.m. Pacific. Initial measurements put it at magnitude 6.9.
*Update: The USGS has revised the earthquake to a magnitude 7.2 centered 38 miles south of Mexicali. Two relatively big aftershocks, one 5.4 and the other 5.1, hit nearby. Imperial, California, also got rattled by a 5.1-magnitude temblor at 4:15 p.m.
We felt it to here in San Diego for about 30 seconds

ReplyDeleteIt was definately a rolling motion here in Brea, CA. Like you were on a cruise ship kinda of feel. went on for at least 1 minute. no damage and nothing fel of walls.

ReplyDeleteThe Easter traffic is still moving out of San Felipe past EDR at this time, don't know about getting through Mexicali, I wouldn't even try Hwy3
ReplyDeleteIt felt more like a swaying rocking motion in Brea/Fullerton than the usual shaking ones. I felt dizzy and nauseous. It lasted for a good one minute I feel.
